BIG DREAMS, COMMITMENT/HARD WORK, RESPONSIBILITY & A WARM HEART FOR OTHERS.

MOTIVES

We believe in the talent/potential and ability individuals have, are gifts. Every single one of us is gifted with our own individual talent. However, we often don’t realise exactly what our talents are and what we are good at. We always think ‘Oh, there is always someone better than me.. I’m just average… I’m good at nothing…’ Some of us don’t even know what we enjoy… Some of us don’t know what our dreams are or don’t have one. There are also a lot of people who are gifted with many talents, yet, they do not get the opportunity to use them because of barriers, often financial or social barriers.

What we have, whether it is your gift/talent or material possessions like an Iphone, is given to us. A lot of people will argue that they have worked hard and they have “earnt” it. I’m not going to discuss who is right or wrong. I am also not going to discuss ‘who’ gave them to us to avoid religious/philosophical conflicts. I simply call it a higher being, whether ‘it’ being God or physical energy.

We did not get to choose our parents/family or up-bringing environment. We simply opened our eyes as new born babies, and there we were… we were born. Considering this, how come someone is born in wealthy family and others are born in poor family? How come someone is born in a loving family, and others are born as orphans or in abusive family? We do not have control over some of our circumstances. That is just how our world works, but what if everyone could have had equal opportunities? Maybe not everything in our lives can be equal, otherwise it would be boring and it will take away the uniqueness of each individual, but what about equal opportunities in education/training, at least? Would that change our world a bit?

We do understand that all of us have worked very hard to gain what we have. However, we could have been in the right situation with the right people at the right moment. We got lucky to get to where we are.

We should always be grateful for everything that we have achieved/gained and everything that we will achieve/gain in the future. That is the main reason why we want to share our gifts with other people, who are in need.

Our DreamS

Do Dream Foundation is a non-religious charitable group to aid young people who are struggling financially to pursue their dreams. Unfortunately, many of us cannot “afford” to pursue our dreams. A lot of us change our dreams to suit our reality. There is no right or wrong way to live our lives. It is not wrong to give up your dream, to have a stable job, because some of us cannot afford to continue chasing our dreams without getting any income. We all have to make hard decisions that affect our dreams at some point in our lives.

In saying that, Do Dream Foundation believes everyone deserves a “fair go” at their dreams and that is why we are here to offer small contribution. Wouldn’t it be great making small steps towards your dream in the earlier stages of your life? Shouldn’t we at least have one good go at our dream?

We cannot fully take away the financial pressure, but we would like to offer financial help (NZD $5,000 / year / person) for young people (aged between 16 and 29) for the entire duration of their course/degree/apprenticeship - NOT limited to university courses. It can be any apprenticeships or courses, including building/plumbing/fitness industry etc. This can be used to pay tuition/training fees or could be used for living expenses, in some circumstances.

PAY IT FORWARD

We are also interested in building a community, where people are well connected and able to help/mentor each other. To do this, we are hoping, the recipients of the financial aid will be able to financially aid one new recipient, once they are finished with their course/degree/apprenticeship. We firmly believe that if we have received help from someone, we should give out the help to the others, so the cycle continues…

If you agree with us, Let’s dream big. Charge on. Let’s make it happen.
